Lighting Stage 54

Adding an LED to the Rear Wheel Arch Emergency Light

The final two Emergency Lights of our FDNY Tower Ladder 9 partwork model are above the rear Wheel Arches on both sides. As before, I installed a Micro Bit Light (Red) LED into the lens/frame assemblies of both this stage and the mirrored Stage 57:

To make room for the plug/wiring, I first needed to remove this center locating pin on the back of the Wheel Arch Cover:

Next, I drilled a 2mm hole exactly where the pin used to be:

Then, I could route the plug/wiring for my modded Emergency Light through the hole:

Finally, this Emergency Light can be mounted in place per the instructions:

Mounting the Wheel Arch Cover

To get this wiring inside our Box Frame, I drilled another 2mm hole in the bottom of the Box Frame on the left side at the Wheel Arches:

Then, when it was time to mount the Wheel Arch Cover, I fed the new LED plug/wiring through the existing center hole of the Storage Compartment Frame:

At this point, I realized I need another two Micro Expansion Boards to power these two Wheel Arch Cover lights as well as the two LEDs I installed in the Rear Panel. There are a lot of new LEDs in this Box Frame so I extended this second set of boards with two 15cm cables.
