Build

Attaching the Wheels & Components for the Roof

Step 1

Retrieve your Ladder 9 from Stage 72 and both Rear Wheel assemblies from the previous stage. Fit one of the Rear Wheel assemblies onto this right Rear Axle post, as shown:

Secure this Rear Wheel into place with one (1) Type L screw (provided in the previous stage).

Do not over-tighten this screw as the wheel should still be able to rotate on the axle:

Step 2

Retrieve your Large Rear Wheel Hubcap from Stage 72. Press the tabs of the Hubcap into the matching slots around the center opening of this right Rear Wheel, as shown:

Step 3

Retrieve your Small Rear Wheel Hubcap from Stage 72. Press the tabs of the Hubcap into the matching slots around the center opening of the right Front Wheel, as shown:

Step 4

On the other side of the model, fit your second Rear Wheel assembly onto this left Rear Axle post. Then, secure this Rear Wheel into place with one (1) Type L screw as shown.

Again, do not over-tighten this screw as the wheel should still be able to rotate on the axle:

Step 5

Press the tabs of the Hubcap (from this stage) into the matching slots around the center opening of this left Rear Wheel, as shown:

Step 6

Press the pins of the Accessory into the matching holes of the Large Accessory Storage.

I found it easier to place the Accessory upside down (pins up), then press the Large Accessory Storage down onto it, as shown. These pins are different sizes, so this will only fit correctly one way:

Step 7

Push a Water Cooler down onto the large circular post inside the Large Accessory Storage, as shown:

You might need to use a few drops of super glue during these steps to make sure the various roof components stay in place:

Step 8

Press the pins of this Large Accessory Storage into the matching holes at this location on the right side of the Box Frame Roof Section, orientating it as shown:

Step 9

Push the other Water Cooler down onto the large circular post inside the Water Cooler Storage, as shown:

Press the D-shaped pin of the Water Cooler Storage into the matching hole of the right-side Large Raised Walkway, as shown:

Step 10

Push the Sand Bottle down onto this large circular post on the right side of the Tarp (Blanket) Box, as shown:

Step 11

On the other side of the model, push the Traffic Cone down onto this large circular post of the Box Frame Roof Section, as shown:

Thoughts

I am happy that we finally have all of the wheels attached to our FDNY Tower Ladder 9 build. I was worried that the weight of the model was increasing without being fully supported underneath. It also looks much better now!
