“The steps in this next stage are very similar to the previous steps. Another boom reel will be assembled and attached, this time to the left-hand side of the boom.”
This stage will be very similar to the previous one.
Materials: The Ladder Guide is metal, while the rest of these parts are plastic.
NOTE: Save any spare screws left over at the end of each stage of this build. They may be needed in later stages!
Left Boom Reel
Press the two Boom Reel A and Boom Reel B parts together. The flat faces should go towards each other, as shown:
Slide this Boom Reel between the large tabs of the Reel Bracket. The larger hole of the Boom Reel matches into the larger hole of the Reel Bracket, as shown. Afterwards, take note of this small ledge inside the larger hole of the Boom Reel:
Like the Bearing Cap in the previous stage, the post of the Reel Motor has a matching flat ledge. Press the post of the Reel Motor through the large hole of the Reel Bracket and into the Boom Reel, aligning both ledges as shown:
Press the post of the Bearing Shaft through the other side of the Reel Bracket and into the Boom Reel, as shown:
Press the pin of the Reel Motor Controller into the matching hole at this location on the Reel Bracket.
This should be aligned square to the rest of the Reel Bracket:
Retrieve your Ladder 9 fire truck from the previous stage. Press the two pegs on the bottom of the Reel Bracket into the matching holes on this end of the Reel Support:
Secure the Reel Bracket to the Reel Support from below with one (1) Type B screw:
This stage was much like the previous one, just with the Boom Reel on the opposite side. Keep the unused Ladder Guide nearby as we will need it in Stage 68.
