“In this first stage of pack 10, you’ll assemble the boom reel and fix it to the right-hand side of the boom. Throughout this pack, don’t forget to keep any unused screws that may be required in a later stage.”
Materials: The Ladder Bracket is metal, while the rest of these parts are plastic.
NOTE: Save any spare screws left over at the end of each stage of this build. They may be needed in later stages!

Right Boom Reel
Press the two Boom Reel A and Boom Reel B parts together. The flat faces should go towards each other, as shown:
Slide this Boom Reel between the large tabs of the Reel Bracket. The larger hole of the Boom Reel matches into the larger hole of the Reel Bracket, as shown:
Take note of this small ledge inside the larger hole of the Boom Reel:
The post of the Bearing Cap has a matching flat ledge:
Press the post of the Bearing Cap through the large hole of the Reel Bracket and into the Boom Reel, aligning both ledges as shown:
Press the post of the Bearing Shaft through the other side of the Reel Bracket and into the Boom Reel, as shown:
Press the two pegs on the bottom of the Reel Bracket into the matching holes on this end of the Reel Support:
Secure the Reel Bracket to the Reel Support from below with one (1) Type B screw:
Retrieve your Ladder 9 fire truck from the previous stage. Raise the boom and locate this mounting point on the underside of the Bed Section:
Press the Reel Support onto the two pins at this location, making sure the orientation is correct as shown:
Secure the Reel Support to the Bed Section with two (2) Type B screws:
On the real truck, these would be heavy-duty cable reels that would extend and retract the aerial boom. We will build the Boom Reel for the other side in the next stage. Keep the unused Ladder Bracket safely stored until we need it again in Pack 12.
