Compartment Inner and First Ladder Parts
Attach the Storage Compartment Frame to the Box Frame Shell
Step 1
Retrieve your Storage Compartment Frame from the previous stage and the Type D screws from Stage 44. We will also need the Box Frame assembly we last worked on in Stage 42. Fit the Storage Compartment Frame to the forward right side of the Box Frame Shell, as shown. Ensure the alignment holes fit over the locating pins and the screws holes match up:
Step 2
Secure the Storage Compartment Frame to the Box Frame Shell with five (5) Type D screws. As these are short screws, you will likely need to apply a drop of super glue to the ends of the screws before driving them in.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Attach the Steps
Retrieve your Steps assembly from the previous stage and press the lugs on the back of the Step Backplate into the matching holes of the Box Frame at this location between the Storage Compartments, as shown.
You may need to trim any extra material/paint off the larger lug for a better fit:
Attach the Compartment Inner
Step 1
Press the posts on the rear of the Compartment Inner into the matching holes at this right rear location of the Box Frame.
Make sure the edges of this Compartment Inner is tucked behind the outer ledges of the Steps and Rear Panel, as shown:
Step 2
Secure the Compartment Inner to the Box Frame with two (2) Type D screws. As these are short screws, you will likely need to apply a drop of super glue to the ends of the screws before driving them in:
Thoughts
I wish the screws for this stage were a bit longer. The attachment of these compartments feels good, but not as solid as I would like. Keep the unused Turntable Gear, Elevator Pistons, Handrail, and Handrail Washers safely stored until they are needed later in the build.
