“A smaller compartment is assembled in this next stage, and the right-hand rear door for the ladder bay is attached to the box frame.

Parts

Materials: The Door Fronts are metal and the other parts are plastic.

NOTE: Save any spare screws left over at the end of each stage of this build. They may be needed in later stages!

Build


Pull-down Storage Compartment and Rear Ladder-Bay Door

Assembling the Compartment

Align the Compartment Door Back to the Compartment Door Front. Apply super glue into these two openings:

Fit the two parts together, aligning the different-sized locating pins into the matching holes. Hold these firmly together until the glue sets:

Glue the D-shaped pin of a Door Handle into the matching opening on the front of the Compartment Door Front, as shown. This compartment opens downward, so ensure the Handle is installed correctly:

Apply super glue along this top ledge of the Compartment Inner, then fit the hinge of the Compartment Door assembly over the posts and hold it in place until the glue sets.

Make sure the door can open and close correctly:

Assembling a Rear Door for the Fire Truck Main Body

Align the Right-Hand Rear Door Back to the Right-Hand Rear Door Front. Apply super glue into these two openings:

Fit the two parts together, aligning the different-sized locating pins into the matching holes. Hold these firmly together until the glue sets:

Glue the D-shaped pin of the other Door Handle into the matching opening on the front of the Right-Hand Rear Door Front, as shown:

Retrieve your Box Frame assembly from Stage 40. As we did with the Left-Hand Rear Door, slide the hinge of this Right-Hand Rear Door between the Box Frame and the Box Frame Shell, as shown.

You may need to pry the Box Frame away from the Box Frame Shell to slide this hinge into place. I used a thin flat screwdriver:

Position the Right-Hand Rear Door so the screw holes line up, then secure the door into place with two (2) Type D screws:

Thoughts


The rear doors of our build are now finished and everything is looking really good so far! Keep the Compartment we built in this stage someplace safe until we need it later on.
