Return to the BUILD
“You’ll now turn your attention back to the chassis, assembling and fitting the front left wheel.“
Materials: The Front Tire is rubber, but the Wheel and Hub Cab are plastic.
Assemble & Fit the Front Left Wheel
Fitting the Tire to the Wheel
Push the Wheel into the Front Tire so the rim of the tire fits snugly around the groove on the wheel, as shown.
If you find the Front Tire to be stiff, try soaking them in hot water for a few minutes first. Be careful not to burn yourself!
With the tire warmed up, it slipped right onto the wheel. There is no lettering on the tire sidewalls, so it can be installed onto the wheel either way:
As with the previous wheels, I used my Liquid Chrome pen to touch up the lug nuts and the outer edge of the Wheel rim. It is not easy to see with the bright studio lighting, but it is there:
Attaching the Left Front Wheel
Retrieve your Main Chassis assembly from Stage 12B. Fit the Left Front Wheel assembly onto this left post of the Front Axle as shown:
Secure the Left Front Wheel to the Front Axle with one (1) Type L screw (from Stage 15):
Align the tabs of the Hub Cab with the matching slots in the center of the Wheel and press it firmly into place:
After the previous stage, this one was quick and easy! We have done steps like these before, so it should feel quite familiar.
